Nature

Wild flowers, CastletonWild flowers, CastletonDiscover for yourself the true beauty of Britain’s first National Park and the county of Derbyshire, where the ever changing and dramatic landscapes provide the perfect backdrop whether you're staying overnight, for the weekend or on a longer break.

At the heart of the region, the Peak District National Park offers a unique living landscape for visitors to enjoy.

The National Park itself can be divided into two distinct regions, the Dark Peak to the north and the White Peak to the south. The difference is largely geological – the Dark Peak is tough gritstone, with crags, rocky ‘edges’ and vast, panoramic stretches of moorland. The White Peak is softer, based on light coloured limestone, divided by steep-sided gorges and gentler valleys.

Beyond the National Park boundaries, take the time to explore the tranquil waterways of the Amber Valley area, the varied scenery of the Peak District's Historic Border Country or the miles of footpaths and nature trails of The National Forest.
